America 250 Links

On July 4 2026, the United States will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the country.

Across Connecticut (one of the original 13 colonies) and all around the country, individuals, communities and government agencies are planning unique and exciting ways to celebrate this historic moment in our nation’s history.

Don't miss this opportunity to take part in the fun and learn something new about our history - from exibitions, re-enactments and commemorations to firework displays and all american block parties - Let the Semiquincentennial Celebrations Begin!

Chair Yoga

Join us at the Watertown Library for Chair Yoga, a gentle yoga program incorporating the use of chairs led by Certified Chair Yoga Instructor Frances Harmeyer.

Tuesdays - July / September - Various dates available.

All sessions run from 10:15am to 11:15am.

Join Vanessa Fasanella on Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 6:00pm – 7:00pm at Watertown Library to learn how to use glass seed beads to create tiny, intricate mosaics.

Join crafting instructor Tina Sarno on Thursday, September 24, 2026 beginning at 2:30pm at the Watertown Library and learn to make your own macrame bracelet!

For children ages 8-10, registration is required.

Join crafting instructor Tina Sarno on Thursday, September 24, 2026 beginning at 5:30pm at the Watertown Library and learn to make a hanging macrame decoration.

Join us at the Watertown Library on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from at 10:30am to 11:30am when we welcome Yoga instructor Nick Switz who will lead a children's yoga class for children ages 3-6.

Day Trips in Connecticut & Beyond

Join us at the Watertown Library on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 starting at 6:30pm to set out on a journey through the heart of New England and explore a handpicked collection of destinations guided by travel enthusiast Michelle “Shel” Griffis.

Sing Laugh Learn

Join us at the Watertown Library on Saturday, Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 11:00am to 12:00pm to Sing, Laugh & Learn with Mr. Joe - an interactive musical program for children ages 3-7.

Celebrate the season with Fall Storytime at The Oakville Branch Library on Wednesdays, October 14, 2026 through November 18, 2026 from 11:00am to 12:00pm.

For Children ages 2-5 with their caregivers.
